Last Saturday, April 8th, the world of Track and Field turned its attention to the first major meet of this season. The ‘Grenada Invitational’ this was the starting point for this year’s Track and Field elite athletes. The competition was held at the National Athletic Stadium in St. Georges’, Grenada and it had more than 120 international competitors from twenty-four different countries.

The USATF team garnered great results on the beautiful Caribbean island. In the totality of twenty-two events, the elite American athletes captured eight first place positions, nine-second places and six finished in third rounding out the competition.

Mike Rodgers, the 31-year-old professional US sprinter crossed the threshold in a sizzling first place birthing a win in the 100 meters, besting the field with the top time in the entire competition, a blistering 10.17 seconds, at an impressive rate of 35.4 km/h.
